The Messy Middle of AI

Therapy for a leader navigating the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence is less about having the right answers and more about strengthening the internal capacity to lead without them. In sessions, leaders unpack the pressure to appear certain while operating in ambiguity, examine how fear or urgency may be shaping strategic decisions, and build emotional regulation skills for high-stakes environments. It’s a space to clarify values before implementing AI-driven change, reflect on the human impact on teams, and practice communicating transparently when the path forward is still emerging. In the messy middle of AI adoption—where innovation and uncertainty coexist—therapy becomes a structured, confidential space to think clearly, lead steadily, and respond rather than react.

FAQs

  • In a standard therapy session, we will start with a brief check-in, followed by a discussion of your concerns. The therapist may use specific techniques to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, with a focus on your therapy goals. If you are experiencing a particular entrepreneurial milestone, such as raising capital, launching a product, building a team, acquisitions and mergers, the therapist may discuss the specifics, so they better understand some of the stressors you are experiencing.

Towards the end, we will summarize key points and set goals for the next session. The session usually concludes with scheduling and any final questions.

  • Absolutely! All of our therapists are registered mental health professionals with different designations. If you would like to use your insurance to cover the cost of a session, we encourage you to read the fine print of your policy to ensure your therapist’s credentials are covered.

  • At this time, we don’t offer direct billing. After making payment following your session, you’ll receive a receipt with your therapist’s credentials on it that you can submit to your insurance provider.

  • All therapists are licensed with their applicable licensing board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training, and practice. This means that when you talk to a licensed therapist online or in-person, they are subject to the mandated reporting and confidentiality requirements.

Generally, the therapist will keep what you tell them confidential, but there are limited exceptions. For example, if you threaten grave harm to yourself or to an identifiable victim the therapist is required to report this information to relevant authorities. Before starting therapy, please discuss with your therapist their legal obligations to confidentiality if you have any concerns or questions.

  • Coaching helps individuals achieve specific goals, enhance performance, and develop skills through a structured, forward-looking process. It involves setting objectives, creating action plans, and providing support and accountability to foster personal and professional growth.

Counseling, on the other hand, often delves into past experiences to understand and resolve underlying problems. It aims to provide therapeutic support, helping individuals cope with challenges, improve mental health, and achieve emotional well-being.

  • Collectively Tangled specializes in supporting entrepreneurs, including founders and the leaders in startups and scaleups.
